As some of you may know, Jim Stock is starting at the Council of Economic Advisers as of September 11, 2012. Government ethics rules prohibit any kind of paid or unpaid outside work, including editorial work, so effective immediately, Jim will cease all his editorial duties at Econometrica. I would first like to take this opportunity to thank him for his dedicated and tireless service to Econometrica, and wish him luck for the next challenge which will be no less than dealing with Econometrica submissions!
Fortunately, Elie Tamer has agreed to step in at short notice. Elie will formally start as a coeditor on Monday, September 17, thus ensuring a seamless transition. Elie's expertise in econometric theory and structural work as well as his energy and vision will be invaluable to Econometrica as we move forward. I am excited to be working with Elie in the next several years, and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome him on board.
To ease Elie's transition at such short notice, Jim and I have decided that manuscripts for which Jim has invited a revision, provided that they are resubmitted before September 11, 2013, will be handled by a guest coeditor.
I would also like to inform you about another upcoming change. As you may know, Jean-Marc has been working tirelessly since July 1, 2009 and will be completing his four year term at the end of June 2013. Liran Einav has kindly agreed to join the editorial board starting July 1, 2013. I am excited to have Liran bring his insight, vision and knowledge in both structural and reduced-form applied work to Econometrica, and I look forward to having him as a colleague at Econometrica. I would also like to thank Jean-Marc for his dedicated leadership at Econometrica and welcome Liran to the editorial board.
