Abstract

This article commemorates Ragnar Frisch (1895-1973), the first editor of Econometrica, and relates the events which finally led to the establishment of the journal. How the name of the journal was settled, and what it might have been, is revealed. The editorial views, style, and habits of Ragnar Frisch are recounted.
